THEME: Exploring and Promoting European Best Practise in Aviation Training and Education

Flight Planning for Vienna: EATS 2008

EATS is returning to beautiful Vienna for 2008 and will continue the tradition of exploring European best practise in aviation training and simulation. With its accompanying exhibition, EATS is now both a pilot training conference and a maintenance training conference, providing a uniquely European perspective on  civil aviation training through two parallel conference tracks.

Personnel recruitment and primary training issues will be centre stage at EATS, including the actual experience with MPL, as well as several initiatives to address the personnel shortage. And both pilot and maintenance tracks will include an update on the role of EASA as it continues its regulatory evolution, including Flight Crew Licensing and Flight Operations NPA activities.

Training for safety and security, human factors, new navigation technologies, and new aircraft operations – including the A380 and B787 - will all be thoroughly briefed, with viewpoints from the continent’s most informed industry players. And delegates will receive information on the impact of the Single Sky proposals, as well as training for environmentally “green” operations.

Rounding out the conference will be a simulation technology update – from desktop devices to Full Flight Simulation – including an update on the ICAO simulator standards international working group.

Check the Halldale website often for conference program updates http://www.halldale.com/EATS.aspx .

We look forward to seeing you in Vienna!

The Venue - Austria Trend Eventhotel Pyramide

Imagine a designer glass pyramid, 42 metres high and twice as large as the one at the Louvre in Paris, with huge natural palm trees and there you are at EATS 2008, at the Austria Trend Eventhotel Pyramide for 2 days of stimulating conference, with colleagues and friends from around the world.

This unique Austrian venue offers literally everything in one convenient location: 458 superior 4-star category hotel rooms; a 42m-high glass pyramid containing the 500 square meters of the EATS Exhibition; state of the art conference rooms all with natural daylight and Vienna’s largest hotel wellness and pool area plus 4,000m² of outdoor garden.

Set amidst a 90,000m² green area directly at Vienna's doorsteps lies the Eventhotel Pyramide. It is located in the dynamic south of Vienna, just 5 minutes walk away from Europe’s largest shopping centre SCS. The streetcar 'Badener Bahn' stops directly in front of the hotel and takes you to the State Opera in the city centre as well as to the beautiful town of Baden within 25 minutes. The exits of the most important motorways A2, A21 and A23 can be easily reached within 5 minutes drive. It offers parking for up to 600 cars directly in front of the hotel as well as free parking for 500 cars next to the hotel. The Vienna Airport (VIE) Bus stops right in front of the hotel and takes guests to the airport and back within 28 minutes, every hour from 05:11 am to 7:11 pm.

After 4 consecutive years of rapid growth, responding to demand for more pilots, more maintainers and safer skies, EATS 08 returns once again to one of its most popular locations, Vienna, Austria on the 11th and 12th of November 2008 and the signs are all there for this to be another record breaking event, with the floor space, increased almost 20% over 2007, already 80% sold.

With its move back towards central Europe, EATS is reflecting the growth in the aviation sector in this region with new airlines coming on stream satisfying the demand for air travel driven by the open boarders between the 27 member states of the European Union, a process that is set to continue as new states accede in the future.

You can be part of this growth process by attending EATS as a Delegate, to see the newest products, to discuss the latest training methodologies, services and solutions and meet, interact and do business with the senior figures from the European aviation training community.

EATS 2008 will provide its sponsors and exhibitors with a unique set of benefits:

  1. Concentrated exposure in a captive environment
  2. On-target to reach the specialists and senior decision-makers
  3. Recognition and retention of your brand image
  4. Association with a highly regarded conference in a prestigious environment

EATS 2007 Conference Report

EATS 2007 was characterised by a feeling of optimism that the present boom in training is set to continue for at least the medium term. The event itself reflected that mood, drawing over 370 people from across the industry, thus making it the biggest EATS so far.  To read the whole of Chris Long's report click here.
