Healthcare Education Assessment Training and Technology

Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, Orlando, Florida USA

Improving Education and Training to Enhance Safety, Efficiency, Capacity and Performance

It is widely understood that to achieve real progress toward establishing a safety culture in healthcare a ‘renaissance of healthcare training’ is needed.

HEATT provides the forum to formulate and progress the discussion not only on how we should be educating and training today’s healthcare workforce but even more critically what we should be training. The pace of technology change will not slow and is affecting the equipment used in healthcare and the methods used in training. How we make best use of training technology and advances and how we train to safely deploy new equipment in the OR and through the hospital will be critical. The healthcare team is amongst the most complex from pre hospitals care, through surgery, recovery and back to the home. Effective team training needs to be embedded in hospitals and as much as possible done, by way of simplifying and standardizing methods of working, to reduce the opportunity for error.

HEATT looked at how we achieve this education and training renaissance against a backdrop of extreme economic pressure on schools and hospitals, the loss of so many experienced personnel through retirement in the next 10 years and the impact of the ‘digital native’ in the classroom and in our hospitals.

Traditional methods of training are not adequate; we need to create new, more effective healthcare education and training models – Bring the HEATT … and help shed some light.
