Editorial Team

The CAT Magazine editorial team members are well-known and respected by the simulation and training community around the world. They bring extra interest and readership to the articles in CAT magazine. 

Editor in Chief: Chris Lehman
Chris has been Editor in Chief of CAT and MS&T Magazines for the past 11 years. He has 26 years’ experience in military and civil aviation training and simulation, and holds undergraduate degrees in the physical sciences. Chris has an extensive background in training systems development, international marketing and sales, contracts and program management. He maintains his civil pilot license and has been current on fixed-wing aircraft for over 30 years. Chris has been the Conference Chair of the WATS and EATS aviation training conferences for over a decade. He is based in Ontario, Canada.

Group Editor: Marty Kauchak
Marty is a retired US Navy Captain, having served for more than 23 years in the surface warfare community. His insights and knowledge about training and simulation were gained through five operational assignments and major staff management positions. In addition to Marty’s military experience, he brings expertise as a former editor and writer for defence publications in the US and overseas. He also developed unique perspectives and knowledge about training during his time as congressional and media outreach coordinator for the US DoD’s Training Transformation Program. Marty is based in New Orleans.

Editor US Affairs: Chuck Weirauch
Chuck has been writing for CAT and MS&T for more than ten years. His background encompassing more than 25 years includes extensive editorial experience in a wide variety of emerging new technologies. He has written for major aerospace companies on their latest technology research and development work, including that for military and civilian aircraft. As a public affairs writer for NASA at Kennedy Space Center, Chuck covered such space agency programs as the Space Shuttle, simulation technologies, NASA aviation research and the agency's advanced research and technology spinoffs program.

European Affairs: Chris Long
CAT Magazine European Affairs Editor Chris Long began his aviation career as a military pilot for the Royal Air Force operating in strategic reconnaissance, tanker and instructional roles. This time included three years as a basic jet instructor on exchange with the French Air Force. After his time with the Air Force, Chris worked for BAE Systems initially as a Standards (Staneval) pilot, responsible for training and testing both students and instructors. He was promoted to manager, running the remote operations, and then to Director of Sales and Marketing for a company within BAe Systems. While his work took him to live in Saudi Arabia, Scotland, the United States and France, Chris is now based in Toulouse, France, where he works as a consultant on projects run by the European Commission and for several major European players. Chris writes for CAT magazine and is the conference chair for the Asia Pacific Airline Training Symposium (APATS).
