The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has chosen Norway's Pilot Flight Academy (PFA), which it recently qualified as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), to provide its staff with flight training.

The first three members of CAAV staff begun training for their Private Pilot License (PPL), Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR) and Multi-Engine (ME) Rating with PFA in August.

Aviation is growing fast in Vietnam and, with many foreign pilots already working in the country today, both Vietnamese airlines and authorities are keen to see an increase in the number of Vietnamese civilian pilots.

"We have chosen Pilot Flight Academy as our training partner for PPL and CPL IR ME education. CAAV recognizes the EASA education standard as the preferred standard, and PFA has been chosen because of its high training standards, professional staff and modern aircraft, simulators and facilities" commented Mai Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Flight Safety Standard Department at CAAV.

CEO of PFA, Frode Granlund, added, "We have been working with Vietnam for the last two years and see huge potential in this market. Vietnam and many other countries in Southeast Asia prefer the EASA standard for training and education, and we want to be a long term player in the South Asian market."
