BCC students can enter Cape Cod Community College’s AMT programme

Under a new special articulation agreement, Cape Cod Community College (CCCC) will allow students from Bristol Community College (BCC) to enter its aviation maintenance technology (AMT) programme.

The agreement will permit students at Bristol Community College to take the required general education courses at BCC locations before transferring to CCCC’s 14-month long AMT programme. These students will ultimately earn both an FAA Certification in Airframe and Powerplant repair and an Associate of Applied Science degree in aviation maintenance technology.

John Cox, President of CCCC; and Laura Douglas, President of BCC; signed the agreement in front of a twin-engine jet aircraft donated to the programme for student training at CCCC’s Plymouth Aviation Center. With the two Presidents at the signing table were BCC’s Associate VP for Academic Affairs, Anthony Ucci; and CCCC’s VP Academic and Student Affairs, Susan Miller.

“This programme gives students valuable credentials and hands-on training in a very stable industry, desperate for more highly skilled aviation maintenance technicians in jobs with starting salaries in the US$40K-$60K range. The very first class completed the programme in October, and already are in the workforce and/or preparing for further education,” explained Cox.

The next class of AMT students will enter the programme on 22 January 2018.
