Cobham Aviation has opened the application process for its 2020 cadet pilot course at Adelaide's Parafield Airport.
The Australian course, which was introduced in 2018, welcomes aspiring pilots with little or no experience to train for Cobham's dedicated Special Mission crews.
Cadets are readied for the role of First Officer on Cobham’s fleet of highly-modified Dash 8 aircraft which operate aerial surveillance on behalf of the Australian Government.
“This is not regular passenger transport flying; it’s unique, hands-on, low-level flying," said Cobham’s Vice President Special Mission, Russell Dyer.
"Ultimately, graduates have the rare opportunity to combine their love of flying with national security and environmental protection."
The cadet pilot course involves 53 weeks of classroom tuition and includes practical and simulation training.
Cobham's inaugural classes of cadets achieved a big milestone recently by flying solo for the first time.
"Though only a short flight, it is the culmination of a lifetime’s dream of flying," said cadet Ed Duhig.
