Saab-receives-order-from-Boeing-for-first-T-X-phase

Saab received an order from Boeing for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the T-X Advanced Pilot Training Aircraft. The T-X program is divided into multiple phases, and the order is for the first phase. The order is valued at MUSD 117.6. and will run until 2022.

In this phase, Saab and Boeing will industrialize the T-X aircraft with the U.S. Air Force. The EMD stage includes testing, U.S. military flight certification and the delivery of five jets, and will be followed by a serial production phase.

The U.S. Air Force selected Saab and Boeing for the T-X program in September 2018. Saab and Boeing developed the T-X aircraft together, in which Saab is a risk-sharing partner with Boeing in the development of the program and Boeing is the designated prime contractor for the advanced pilot training system acquired by the Air Force.

“This order is an exciting step towards a whole new era when it comes to trainer jets. It lays the foundation for our joint work for many years to come.” says Håkan Buskhe, president and CEO of Saab.
