In partnership with industry, the Department of Defense (DoD) Corrosion Policy and Oversight Office is unveiling two new courses for aerospace engineers and aircraft maintenance technicians who plan, design and maintain military aircraft.

The first course, Aerospace Engineer Coating ApplicationTraining, is designed to familiarize engineers with corrosion mitigation, coating application and coating inspection practices to ensure that theysupport corrosion prevention and control during the lifecycle of militarysystems. This course will primarily benefit engineers involved in the planningand design of corrosion prevention for military aircraft.

The second course, Aerospace Maintainer Coating ApplicationTraining, is constructed to familiarize aerospace maintainers with corrosionmitigation and coating application practices necessary to reinforce corrosionprevention and control during the sustainment lifecycle of DoD systems. The maintainercourse differs from the engineer course in that it is targeted towards servicemembers who perform maintenance and repair work on military aircraft.

“These two courses provide the military departments withprograms that meet the highly specialized needs of the civilian engineers whodesign and engineer corrosion control products and processes that are vital toDoD aircraft operated by the Departments of Army, Navy and Air Force,” saidWalter Juzukonis, the U.S. Air Force Deputy Corrosion Prevention and ControlExecutive. “These state-of-the-art training courses enable a formal and moreeffective transfer of knowledge during one-on-one interactions with corrosionsubject matter experts.”

This training is available to U.S. Army, Marine, Navy, AirForce, and Coast Guard personnel as part of the DoD Corrosion Office’s missionto educate the corrosion prevention and control workforce.
