The Patient Safety Movement Foundation (PSMF) will be screening the HBO documentary BLEED OUT at its World Summit on Friday, March 6, 2020.
The film will be followed by a panel with the writer and director, Steve Burrows, PSMF's Founder, Joe Kiani, CEO of David Mayer, and survivor of medical harm, Jack Gentry. Burrows will also be on our Advocacy Panel on Saturday morning.
After a routine partial hip replacement operation leaves his mother in a coma with permanent brain damage, what starts as a son’s video diary becomes a citizen’s investigation into the future of American health care. Shot over the course of ten years, using archival footage, vérité scenes, undercover spy cams, courtroom testimony and interviews with family and experts, BLEED OUT goes deep inside a flawed healthcare system.
