China Looks to Incorporate AI in Future Trainers

China will look to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and a virtual tactical training system on its future fighter trainers.

The use of AI technologies in future Chinese fighter trainer would help the pilot cadet's learning and boost future combat capability, the English language Global Times quoted Zhang Hong, Chief Designer of the L15 jet trainer and GM at Hongdu Aviation Industry Group as saying from a recent China Central Television (CCTV) programme introducing the Hongdu L15 Falcon trainer jet.

Future Chinese trainer jets would also have a virtual tactical training system, with the ability to link with simulators on the ground or other fighter jets, for better tactical training of future pilots.

The L15 is known with the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) as the JL-10. The first batch of PLAAF pilots trained on the JL-10 graduated from the Shijiazhuang Flight Academy in July.
