History was made at Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) on 31 July 2017 with the start of its first three-phase training course for IndiGo pilots.

An initial nine students will now complete extensive basic flight training. The first phase will see them achieve a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating (MECIR) from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) before undertaking a Multi Crew Cooperation (MCC) program in Adelaide.

Phase two will see the students complete an A320 type rating program in Melbourne, which is a one hour flight from Adelaide.

Finally, the students will return to Hyderabad, India, for the third and final phase of training - the CASA license conversion into an Indian license.

FTA’s CEO, Pine Pienaar, said that FTA and IndiGo have worked extremely hard to select these students, claiming, "We are anticipating a rewarding partnership with IndiGo, with two more courses planned for 2017 and more throughout 2018."
