The NATO Modelling & Simulation Coordination Office (MSCO) in Neuilly near Paris, which provides executive support to the NATO Modelling and Simulation Group (NMSG), has a new head. On 1 July 2018, CDR Santiago Fernández Dapena, Spanish Navy, replaced CDR Federico Perez Dueñas, who had led the MSCO for three years.

CDR Dapena graduated from the Spanish Naval Academy in 1997 as a Naval Officer and from the NAS Pensacola, Florida Flight School in 2000 as a Naval helicopter pilot. He was active in air and ground units for more than 10 years and participated in numerous international missions. After completing his MSc in Scientific Methodology and Applied Statistics, he was appointed Research Fellow in the Department of Operational Research and Statistics of the Spanish Navy. In his most recent assignment he was an analyst and experimenter at the Joint Centre for Concept Development within the Joint Spanish Military Staff.
