Emergency Financial Aid Grants Available from Embry-Riddle

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has received federal funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to award Emergency Financial Aid Grants to eligible students.

The funds are designated for eligible students to cover expenses directly related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus. The funds are limited and, in line with U.S. Department of Education recommendations, Embry-Riddle will prioritize students with the greatest financial need. Not every eligible student may receive funding, and selected students may receive only a portion of their eligible expenses.

Students who were enrolled for the spring term (Daytona/Prescott campuses) or the January or March term (worldwide campus) and meet all the following U.S. Department of Education criteria can apply:

The student incurred expenses directly related to the disruption of campus operations due to Covid-19; expenses might include technology required for online learning, unexpected transportation home, and temporary food or housing needs.

The student is eligible to receive Title IV funding (e.g., U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens with a valid Social Security number and registration with the Selective Service, if applicable) – as determined by having filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); and

Prior to the disruption, the student was not exclusively enrolled in distance or online education.

Students interested in applying may complete the Covid-19 Emergency Financial Aid Grant application. If a student meets all other requirements, but has not filed a FAFSA, they may file the FAFSA at this time and then apply for an Emergency Financial Aid Grant.

Applications will be reviewed and students will be notified via email once a decision has been made. The university is committed to getting funds to eligible students as quickly as possible but expects a high volume of applications, and this process could take 10 to 14 days. Based on fund availability, the university anticipates disbursing all grants by the end of May and will provide updates as necessary.

In addition to the CARES Act funding, which is intended solely for expenses associated with the disruption in campus operations, the university’s Office of Financial Aid may, depending on a students’ specific circumstances, be able to help them access other forms of financial aid or assistance for the future or current academic terms.
