Advanced Simulation Technology inc. (ASTi) has sold two Simulated Environment for Realistic ATC (SERA) systems to Spain's entrol S.L. for use in two different helicopter training systems. The first system is destined for Mexico and will be installed in an H145 D3 Level 7 FTD. entrol will include the second system in an AW109 FNPT II MCC simulator for a customer in Nigeria. This will be the first SERA installation in Africa, the last continent on Earth to receive a SERA system (except Antarctica). All Antarctica-based training and simulation companies, however, are welcome to inquire about ASTi's products and services.

SERA provides a fully featured ATC environment for all phases of flight, supporting gate-to-gate flights between any airport in the world. SERA models regionally accurate ATC behaviors and other traffic aircraft and supports both IFR and VFR flight operations for fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. SERA supports all phases of training from ab initio to airline line-oriented flight training and military equivalents. SERA is designed to accommodate standard flight simulation functions such as freezes, repositions and resets.

SERA, ASTi’s simulated air traffic control environment (SATCE) system, complies with the latest industry requirements for SATCE solutions. These requirements include the “Manual of Criteria for the Qualification of Flight Simulation Training Devices” (ICAO Doc. 9625, Ed. 4) and the updated ARINC Specification 439b.

This technology eliminates the need for an instructor to role-play air traffic control, ensuring consistent phraseology for ATC and all other traffic radio calls. Radio transmissions from other traffic always use regionally correct phraseology, which makes them particularly effective for training reinforcement. Another significant advantage of SERA is its 24/7, always-on availability, enabling maximum use of training assets.
