Aviation Australia Gains Part 142 Flight Training Approval

Aviation Australia is the country's newest pilot training school after receiving Part 142 training approval from the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) late last year.

The approval specificially covers "Integrated/Multi Pilot" training and will enable Aviation Australia to deliver Multi Crew Cooperation (MCC) training from its headquarters at Brisbane Airport.

The MCC course consists of 25 hours of ground school and 20 hours of simulator training, It combined classroom and simulator activity to introduce students to working in a multi-crew environment and develop the non-technical skills that contribute greatly to aviation safety when operating effectively in a modern flight deck. The course ensures that students develop skills in both the leadership and support roles by training in the Pilot Flying (PF) and the Pilot Monitoring (PM) roles during scenario-based training exercises.

The simulator component of the course is completed in a Pacific Simulators FSTD (flight simulator training device) which is based on a twin-engine narrow-body jet airliner. This high fidelity device provides the most ideal platform to teach the Multi-Crew Cooperation outcomes, whilst also providing students with a glass cockpit, modern jet experience. As well as MCC training, other courses offered include Jet Orientation, and pre-Command preparation. All instructors are highly experienced airline personnel, with extensive expertise in multi crew environments.
