Piper Aircraft, Inc. has received an order from ATP Flight School for 10 additional Archer TX aircraft as part of an original agreement made in April 2013 for up to 100 of the type.

ATP initially agreed to purchase a fleet of 15 Piper Archer TX single-engine, piston-powered advanced training aircraft for delivery in late 2013. However, as airline pilot training demand grew, the school expanded its agreement to include an option for 85 further Archers, bringing the total to 100 single engine trainers.

While all of the new ATP aircraft under the agreement with Piper have been equipped with Garmin G500 glass cockpit avionics suites, the latest order includes an option for G1000 NXi equipped aircraft with GFC 700 autopilot.

Once this new order is fulfilled, ATP will operate over 100 Piper Archers and 100 Piper Seminoles as it continues to transition to a predominately Piper training aircraft fleet. In August, ATP will take delivery of its 82nd Archer (serial number 900), marking both the 300th aircraft to join the ATP fleet and the 900th Archer III to be manufactured by Piper Aircraft.

"Continuing to integrate new Piper Archers into the fleet has been crucial in meeting airline demand for professionally trained pilots,” said ATP Flight School's VP, Justin Dennis. “Since the first deliveries, the Piper Archer TX has provided Airline Career Pilot Program students with a safe, reliable training platform and equips them with the advanced avionics and operational economy they need for successful career training. We look forward to welcoming these new Archers to the fleet and continuing to expand with Piper.”
