Frasca International (Frasca) has launched a new Helicopter Training Device (HTD) designed for helicopter air ambulance providers, airborne law enforcement, introductory turbine transition training and ab-initio flight schools. The launch customer for the Frasca HTD – which was also designed for inadvertent IMC encounters (IIMC) as well as operational and procedural training – is the Air Evac Lifeteam, which has already taken delivery of seven B206 HTDs. Six of the devices are housed in trailers, providing the option for mobile training. To find out more about how the Air Evac Lifeteam trains with Frasca's HTDs, click here.

The new HTD comes with one aircraft configuration kit (B206, B407, R44, AS350), either a Garmin G500H or analog instrument panel, Garmin GTN 650, Collective grip based on aircraft configuration kit (governed or ungoverned piston, modulated, or FADEC), annunciator Panel and Circuit Breakers required in RFM procedures, Frasca’s Helicopter Mission Training Database, Single Channel Visual System and Frasca's Simplicity Touch-Screen Instructor Station (IOS). It will be AATD qualified.

Additional aircraft kits can be purchased to add training value, and optional features including Garmin GTN750, Simulated HeliSAS, a three-channel visual display system, a trailer for mobility or to create a self-contained facility and custom databases.

The company says it developed the HTD in response to customer demand for a helicopter training device with a lower price point but still delivered the features required to meet training objectives. It was engineered using aerodynamic technology filtered down from the full flight simulators and flight training devices Frasca is known for with the goal of providing training value with a no-nonsense approach.
