L3 Commercial Aviation won a contract with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to provide a B787-9 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for the airline’s training center at Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.
The simulator, an L3 RealitySeven model, is scheduled fordelivery in mid-2020. The device will enable additional training capability andincreased capacity, supporting the wider Air France-KLM group’s growingrequirement for 787 training.
The contract also includes a package of updates to one B787and one A330 FFS device previously delivered by L3 to KLM. The B787 update willalign the device with the latest configuration of the newly ordered Boeing FFS,while the A330 update will introduce new aircraft systems and features asinstalled on the KLM Airbus fleet. This will enable KLM to deliver UpsetPrevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) on the A330 simulator in compliancewith the latest EASA regulations.
