airBaltic has ordered an Airbus A220 Level D full flight simulator (FFS) from CAE. The new CAE 7000XR Series simulator is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2019.

Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic said: “Introducing a singlefleet type of up to 80 Airbus A220-300 aircraft also means that as an airlinewe will have to train hundreds of our existing and future pilots. Astate-of-the-art full-flight simulator located right next to our headquarterswill provide much desired training simplicity and cost reductions.” Gaussadded, “There are only two Airbus A220 simulators in Europe. This will be thenewest such simulator in the world.”

The simulator will be based at the airBaltic Trainingfacilities in Riga International Airport and it is the first new full flightsimulator ever purchased by a Latvian company.

airBaltic has ordered a fully equipped simulator that willinclude a 60-inch Stroke Electric Motion System as well as a modern visualsystem consisting of four million-megapixel LED projector systems and dualhead-up displays. The CAE7000XR Series FFS, equipped with the CAE Tropos 6000XRvisual system for unprecedented realism, will serve the growing pilot trainingneeds of airBaltic Training.
