CASTLE HILL HOSPITAL. THE woman clings to life on a hospital trolley, three days after a heart attack.

The junior doctor in charge but panicked by inexperience goes AWOL and critical care nurses have minutes to act when a ventilation tube becomes dislodged while the patient is taken for a scan.

The 71-year-old woman's life hanging in the balance, the alarms wail and the nurses spring into action. One “bags" the patient with a mask to help her breath while others check all the machines are working properly and locate emergency medication as the doctor is summoned back.
