The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) has launched its High Voltage Standard, a training program designed for commissioning and service technicians working onshore and offshore in wind energy. This new standard promotes safe working practices during high voltage operations and cable pulling within a structured safety system.
The course includes two modules: High Voltage Operations, which covers safe handling of high voltage equipment and systems, and High Voltage Cable Pulling, which focuses on safe, effective cable installation during construction and servicing. To enroll in the operations module, participants need prior experience with low voltage systems and must have completed GWO’s Basic Technical Training Electrical and Control of Hazardous Energies Electrical or an equivalent qualification. The cable pulling module requires a mechanical background and completion of GWO’s Basic Technical Training Mechanical or an equivalent local certification.
