The aviation industry's most comprehensive flight simulator database is now available as a powerful online platform.
CAT Magazine has announced the launch of the new digital edition of the Civil Full Flight Simulator Census, transforming the industry's trusted simulator reference source into a fully searchable online platform.
For more than 18 years, the Civil Full Flight Simulator Census has served as the definitive source of information on full flight simulators certified to international Levels A through D. Developed and continuously maintained by CAT, the Census provides detailed data on more than 1,700 simulators operating across every major aviation region worldwide.
Previously available as a downloadable spreadsheet, the new digital platform delivers significantly enhanced functionality, enabling users to quickly search, filter and analyse simulator data through an intuitive web-based interface. Purchase your subscription here.
The platform allows users to search by region, country, training organisation, regulatory authority, simulator manufacturer, aircraft manufacturer, aircraft family, aircraft type and aircraft sector, making it easier than ever to identify simulator capacity and training resources around the globe.
Integrated mapping functionality provides a visual overview of simulator locations, helping airlines, training organisations, regulators and aviation consultants quickly locate facilities that meet their operational requirements.
To celebrate the launch, Halldale Group is offering a 10% introductory discount on all new subscriptions purchased before 30 June 2026.
"The simulator market continues to evolve rapidly as airlines modernise fleets, introduce new aircraft types and respond to changing training requirements," said Andy Smith, President of Halldale Group. "The new digital Census provides the industry with faster access to critical information and a significantly improved user experience, while maintaining the depth and accuracy that users have relied upon for nearly two decades."
The launch comes at a time of significant change within the global simulator market. With many legacy aircraft types now being retired from airline service, CAT estimates that approximately 150 full flight simulators may be retired, relocated, upgraded or repurposed over the coming months, creating both challenges and opportunities across the training ecosystem.
As airlines continue to expand operations and address ongoing pilot shortages, access to accurate simulator intelligence has become increasingly important for training departments, simulator operators, lessors and investors seeking to understand capacity and market trends.
Each simulator record within the Census contains up to 23 fields of information, providing users with detailed insight into simulator ownership, location, certification, aircraft type and operational status.
