Aero Simulation Inc. (ASI) won the B-1 Training Systems Program contract award from the U.S. Air Force (USAF), which involves the sustainment of 35 flight and maintenance B-1 training devices at Dyess Air Force Base (AFB), Abilene, TX; Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City, SD; Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX and at ASI’s facilities in Sterling, VA and Tampa, FL. The training devices are used to develop and maintain the proficiency level of USAF aircrew and maintenance personnel. ASI’s team members for this program include BGI LLC and Rockwell Collins Simulation and Training Solutions.

The B-1 Lancer, nicknamed “The Bone,” is a supersonic variable-sweep wing heavy bomber. It is a critical component of the Air Force Global Strike Command and is stationed at Dyess AFB and Ellsworth AFB. The B-1 reaches speeds of Mach 1.2, altitudes of 40,000 feet and features in-flight refueling and a payload of 125,000 pounds.

ASI will provide Training System Support Center (TSSC) and Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) services and perform trainer modifications for the next 7.5 years for the B-1 program, says ASI Vice President of Programs, Daniel Deschnow.
