There are just three weeks to go before the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) closes the defence simulation and training focus areas of its Open Call for Innovation, having already funded a number of successful proposals. The closing date to submit an innovation idea to these focus areas is 7 March 2019.

DASA, part of the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MOD), has committed around £400,000 so far to innovation in the areas of training and education efficiency and effectiveness challenge, and the modelling and simulation representation of the future operating environment.

In the defence sector, focus areas include credible methods to improve training and education efficiency and effectiveness are being sought, as well as modelling and simulation representation of the future operating environment (representing complex and rapidly changing environments to support delivery of training and education for service personnel); areas of interest include future systems and concepts and autonomous systems.

In the civil aviation sector, focus areas include suspected threats to passengers during airport screening and matching passengers with their x-ray trays.
