Airways Aviation Group, represented by its Founder & Chairman, Romy Hawatt and its  COO & CCO, Alexandre Alves, signed two MoUs in Cape Verde with the goal of implementing a new Aviation academy in the country and supporting the government, applying their strategic vision for the sector starting by helping UTA (Technical University of the Atlantic) to establish the Institute of Aeronautics and Tourism.

During the visit, several meetings and discussions with stakeholders were held, such as with the Minister of Defense, Janine Lelis; the Minister of Tourism and Transportation, Carlos Santos; the Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz and their respective staff; the CEO of TACV – Cabo Verde Airlines, Sara Pires;  the Rector of UTA, Joao do Monte Duarte; the board of ASA (airports and air traffic control), lead by Jorge Benchimol Duarte and the board of AAC, the national aviation authority represented by Carlos Rodrigues and Seila Pires.

This successful visit will lead very soon to the opening of a new Aviation Academy in the country, willing not only to provide the local market with a vast portfolio of courses, but also the regional market. All of the training capacity of Airways Aviation from ground handling to maintenance techicians, from cabin crew to pilot training, all will be available.

“The expansion to Africa is a key in the strategy of Airways Aviation Group, having started in January with the opening of Senegal, with Morocco, which will start in the next couple of months and now also with Cape Verde,” said Alexandre Alves, COO & CCO. “We want to be considered a partner of all stakeholders, public and private, civilian and military in a way that we can put at service our experience of over 35 years and our vast network, which presents a coordinated training offer. We believe that we can start first courses in the next couple of months in Sal, Sao Vicente and Praia.”
