FlightSafety to Build New Learning Center, Expands Gulfstream Training

FlightSafety International announced that it will build a new Learning Center in Houston, Texas. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020. The company has also announced it is expanding Gulfstream G280 aircraft training.

The new building will be located in the Houston Spaceportarea at the Ellington Airport, which currently supports the operations of theUnited States military, NASA, and a variety of general aviation tenants.

“This new facility will replace the current Houston Learning Center,which opened in 1976,” said David Davenport, president and CEO. “We appreciatethe support received from the City of Houston for this new facility as we workedto develop and finalize a long-term ground lease agreement for a six acre areawithin Phase 1 of the Spaceport.”

The center will be equipped initially with 12 full flightsimulators for a variety of aircraft types. These simulators and otheradvanced-technology training devices will be used to provide training forpilots, flight attendants and aircraft maintenance technicians. This includes adedicated area for training on Pratt & Whitney Canada engines.

In addition, FlightSafety has entered into an agreement witha large commercial aircraft operator for exclusive use of a large portion ofthe center. The area will be equipped with a series of full flight simulators,classrooms and offices to support the company’s pilot training programs.

Expanding Training

FlightSafety has also announced it is expanding the training it provides for the Gulfstream G280 aircraft. Training will be offered at the company’s Learning Center located in Wilmington, Delaware, next summer.

This will be FlightSafety’s fourth simulator for theGulfstream G280. The first three are located at FlightSafety’s Learning Centerin Savannah, Georgia, and Dallas, Texas.

The G280 simulator will be equipped with the Rockwell CollinsPro Line Fusion PlaneView 280 avionics suite. It will also feature a Dualflight management system with LPV and RNP capabilities, an Integrated FlightInformation System, and a Head-up Guidance System with Enhanced Vision Systemto allow for training on EFVS Touchdown and Rollout.

The technology systems and components installed in this newFlightSafety FS1000 simulator will include a CrewView collimated glass mirrordisplay and VITAL 1150 Visual System.
