L3 Link to update and supply CH-47F OFTs to Flight School XXI

L3 Link Simulation & Training (L3 Link) has been awarded a contract modification from CSRA to deliver a fourth CH-47F Chinook Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) in the current aircraft configuration for the U.S. Army’s Flight School XXI (FSXXI) program.

The contract also includes the upgrade of the three existing CH-47F OFTs to the current aircraft configuration.

“With the fourth CH-47F OFT and the modernization of the three previously delivered OFTs, Flight School XXI demonstrates its ongoing commitment to training the world’s finest combat-ready helicopter pilots,” stated Dan Pedersen, L3 Link's VP Programs. “L3 Technologies’ partnership with CSRA continues to provide the warfighter with realistic visual simulation and current mission software, significantly improving training quality.”

The fourth CH-47F OFT will be delivered to match the U.S. Army’s latest aircraft configuration Operational Flight Program (OFP) and will include upgrading the visual display to the latest technology available.

Flight School XXI annually trains 1,200 new student pilots to become combat mission aviators. In addition, each year 1,600 rated Army aviators undergo training that enables them to operate a new aircraft platform.
