After providing over four years of Close Air Support andJoint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) support to the United States MarineCorps (USMC) and the US Navy, Draken International has been awarded thefollow-on Terminal Attack Controller Trainer (TACT) services contract.

The TACT contract, issued by the Naval Air Warfare Center,has a value of $250-million with a total ordering period of up to 10 years. Thisnew contract will continue to ensure the USMC and US Navy’s Forward AirControllers and JTACs certification and qualification training and readinessneeds are met.

Draken has employed over 2,000 training ordnances on rangesin support of JTAC training for the USMC and the Naval Aviation WarfightingDevelopment Center. Draken will continue to operate the advanced Douglas T/A-4KSkyhawk aircraft complemented by its fleet of L-159 Honey Badgers. Draken’sL-159s currently provide adversary air support for the US Air Force and AirNational Guard.

“These two platforms will guarantee a decade of deliveringprofessional, safe, and on-time training solutions for the United States MarineCorps and the United States Navy,” states Lt. Col Jeff Scott, a retired USMCAV-8B / F-35 pilot now serving as Draken’s director of USMC BusinessDevelopment. "Our A-4 and L-159 jet aircraft accurately represent U.S.fighter/attack aircraft speeds, profiles and tactics," adds Scott.

In addition to the TACT contract, the company has also recentlyadded 24 Mirage F-1M/B and 12 Cheetahs to its fleet, furthering its commitmentto expand capacity and capabilities. Both fleets of supersonic, radar equippedjets are extremely low-time, affording Draken the ability to provide thewarfighter 4th generation adversary training.
