The Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. has been awarded an $84-millionfirm-fixed-price contract for design and construction of the basic trainingcommand for Naval Special Warfare Command at Naval Base Coronado. The contractalso contains two unexercised options and six planned modifications, which, ifexercised, would increase cumulative contract value to $106 million.
The work to be performed provides for the design andconstruction of a new basic training command schoolhouse and includes a combattraining tank complex. An addition to the existing operational storage anddistribution facility is also included, along with renovations to two buildingsand demolition of 19 buildings. The options, if exercised, provide for a boatsupport facility and a medical facility renovation and addition. The plannedmodifications, if issued, provide for furniture, fixtures, audiovisualequipment, and physical security equipment.
Work will be performed in Coronado, California, and isexpected to be completed by August 2022.
