Members of the NATO Modeling and Simulation Group (NMSG) and the Simulation Interoperability Standardization Organization (SISO) signed a technical cooperation agreement at I/ITSEC. The agreement extends NATO and SISO cooperation to develop distributed modeling and simulation standards.



“This agreement will allow host nations to work togethermore easily and reduce costs in developing simulations, said Michael O’Connor,chairman of the SISO Executive Committee and Trideum Corporation chieftechnologist.”

“This agreement is important for NATO because the agreementwill increase interoperability between nations developing modeling andsimulation technologies,” O’Connor continued. “And it’s a big deal for SISO,because having NATO’s stamp of approval is key.”

Signers on the agreement included: retired Maj. Gen. PhillippeMontocchio, deputy director of the NATO Collaborative Support Office; IngAgatino Mursia, chair of the NATO Modeling and Simulation Group; Cmdr. SantiagoFernandez-Dapena, head of the NATO Modeling and Simulation Coordination Office;Michael O’Connor, chairman of the SISO Executive Committee and TrideumCorporation chief technologist; Dr. Katherine Morse, chair of the SISOStandards Activity Committee and principal professional staff at John HopkinsUniversity Applied Physics Laboratory; and Randy Saunders, chairman of theconference committee and John Hopkins University Applied Physics LaboratoryStaff Analyst.
