Griffith-Aviation

Griffith University and Airways Aviation are to work together to launch international aviation students to new heights with a partnership that is the first of its kind for the Australian Gold Coast.

The joint arrangement will ensure the development of an academic program for current and future international students within Australia where they receive a Bachelor of Aviation, Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence) and a Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating).

Students are set to benefit from the partnership from Trimester Two, and will receive credit for their diplomas, shortening the length of their Bachelor of Aviation by a third.

Griffith University Bachelor of Aviation Program Director Dr. Sravan Pingali said the  move would give international students the chance to gain a tertiary qualification after first completing flight training at Airways Aviation.

“International students who successfully complete their diplomas at Airways Aviation can now continue on to Griffith University to complete their Bachelor of Aviation. This has not been possible on the Gold Coast before and we look forward to welcoming these new students and creating a seamless transition for them,” Dr. Pingali said.

Airways Aviation, with bases in the France, Spain, Montenegro and Australia has over 30 years of pilot training experience. Griffith University has six campuses in southeast Queensland including a digital campus, with a network of more than 200,000 graduates around the world.

The University works closely with industry to develop degrees to meet the needs of businesses now and in the future, recently renewing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Queensland Airports Limited for a further three years to 2023.

The MOU ensures continued collaboration in the fields of aviation, customer-focused technology and tourism, giving student internships and work experience, as well as industry-relevant joint research projects.
