New-MRO-Facility-for-Australian-F-35-FMS-ProSim-Projectors

A new facility that will undertake Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO) and upgrades for the ProSim projectors on Australian F-35 flight simulators has been opened by Collins Aerospace (Australia). The facility will also take up the manufacture of specialised components needed for MRO and upgrade work. “This facility in Lane Cove, Sydney will lead to the creation of up to eight new full-time jobs and a multi-million dollar revenue stream,” Defence Minister Linda Reynolds said in a statement.

The announcement on the new MRO facility was part of an Australian Department of Defence release issued on the delivery of the 1000th Electro-Optical Distributed Aperture System (EODAS) optical assembly by Collins Aerospace (Australia). According to Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price, more than 50 Australian companies have directly shared in more than AU$1.7 billion in global F-35A production contracts to date.

Every F-35A in production globally features parts produced by Australian industry, whose involvement in production and sustainment for the 5th generation type is expected to exceed AU$2 billion by the end of 2023.
