Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has introduced a Common Communications Architecture (CCA) that includes a Data Distribution Service (DDS) to integrate 5G Communications with its immersive training systems. Along with partners RAVE Computer and Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the capability for real-time distributed immersive training will be demonstrated across three booths at I/ITSEC, the world's largest modeling, simulation and training event held this week in Orlando, Florida.

To illustrate the capability of Kratos’ CCA, a successful demonstration showcased two immersive environment Holodecks in Kratos booth #1322, one for an UH-60 helicopter Aerial Gunner station and one for a Forward Observer/Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) station. Both stations are connected to two other partner booths, RTI’s booth #1307, where the UH-60 pilot station controls the aircraft simulation that is in the Kratos booth, and Rave Computer booth #3018 in which an adversary truck mounted gunner joins the collective training environment over a 5G network. Kratos immersive technology demonstrations will be conducted on demand throughout the event in booth #1322.

CCA is a scalable, platform agnostic, data centric architecture using open standards and a DDS to enable delivery of low latency, ultrareliable secure communications across multiple networks, including 5G, satellite communications (SatCom) as well as public and private networks.

As Jose Diaz, Senior Vice President Kratos Training, explains: “As training organizations embrace multi-domain, joint force operations, the training infrastructure must evolve to deliver collective training to the points of need in similar multifaceted environments. Many of these existing training environments may include disparate communication and information networks, protocols and media limiting communications critical to the success of the training mission. Kratos’ CCA enables communications across a variety of networks and protocols. By enabling communications across disparate training network infrastructures, training organizations can achieve their critical training missions and warfighters readiness.”
