Mick Golson Appointed President of Engineering & Computer Simulations

Waymon Armstrong, CEO of Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS), announced that Mick Golson, chief operating officer (COO) for ECS has been appointed President & COO, effective immediately. A United States Air Force (USAF) veteran with over 30 years of experience leading high-profile and challenging programs at the executive and supervisory levels, Golson has managed teams focusing on software engineering, training development, logistics, program management, and information technology within both the government and private sectors. He will continue to lead the technical and creative services teams while overseeing the firm’s vision, strategy, and operations.

Golson joined ECS in 2014 as Vice President and was appointed COO in 2018. He has been instrumental in leading the team to have been appraised at level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI ML3) and being awarded several notable contracts, including the recent Electronic and Communication Services to assist the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) with sustaining current and future training equipment and education requirements for the Fleet Marine Forces.

A USAF veteran of 29 years, Golson served in the highest enlisted position for numerous operations and functional specialties, including an assignment to the Pentagon and has had several papers published in the fields of human dimension modeling in tactical level environments, including The Importance of Agile Combat Support (Logistics) in Today’s Military Environment and Towards Simulating the Complex Nature of Asymmetric Operations in Tactical Immersive Environments. After a football injury at Auburn University, Golson joined the Air Force, and during that time pursued his educational goals earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus and a master’s degree in software engineering from Central Michigan University.
