Astrom Training Solutions and Norman MacLeod, author of “Crew Resource Management Training – A Competence-based Approach for Airline Pilots”, have developed a Crew Resource Management (CRM) course.

The course draws on current thinking in the Safety II domain, and underpins a competence-based approach to delivering effective CRM training. Throughout the course, an emphasis is placed on workplace performance, with core topics such as: CRM and systems thinking, personal resilience, stress, fatigue, how we do work, task management, automation, error, teamwork, communication problem solving, and decision making

The concepts are first developed in a computer-based training environment using Astrom's new course player portal, and then applied through instructor-led Learning Labs. Using a project-based approach, students analyze a set of overlapping case studies that illustrate what competence means in the real world.

Astrom’s CRM training is available for pilot initial and recurrent training, and can also be combined with joint training for pilots, cabin crews, and mixed groups of airline personnel.  Astrom also partners with airline trainers and established third-party instructors to deliver CRM instructor-led training sessions.
