Major Gen. Parker H. Wright took command of the Curtis E. LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education and the position of deputy commander of the U.S. Air Force Air University during a change of command ceremony held 21 July 2023. The LeMay Center focuses on advancing warfighting through doctrine development and education and simulation. Air University serves as the intellectual and leadership-development center of the Air Force.

Wright’s previous position was as director of Intelligence and Information for North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.

Wright commissioned in 1996 as a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Academy. A career intelligence officer, the general has deployed in support of air operations over Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans.

“You’re taking the reins at an exciting time. You come to us from the joint and coalition headquarters of NORTHCOM and NORAD, where every day is a ‘Ph.D.’ lesson in defending the homeland, integrating deterrence and working with our allies by design,” said Lt. Gen. Andrea Tullos, Air University commander and president and who officiated the ceremony. “You’re going from being one of our biggest customers to leading the team our combatant commanders are counting on to help shape their most difficult decisions, develop courses of action and build the information advantage to win the competition and avoid a future conflict. … Parker is exactly the right officer to keep the LeMay Center rolling.”

Among his more-recent assignments, the general served as director, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, and commander, National Air and Space Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
