New Simulator Enhances Heavy Vehicle Training

MOTUM World has introduced a heavy vehicle-focused version of its training simulator software, designed to improve driver safety for high-risk road users. Developed with support from a National Heavy Vehicle Regulator grant, the platform is fully customizable for local conditions and specific fleets.

The simulator reproduces the handling dynamics of varied truck configurations, accounting for load placement and tanker fluid movement to allow practice in controlled, realistic scenarios. Features also include modeling of swept paths for long vehicles and advanced telemetry for instructor feedback.

Combined with the MOTUM True Motion Simulator, drivers experience road surface changes, braking forces, and traction loss. VR headsets support full head movement for reversing and intersection checks.

The software aims to supplement traditional training with immersive experiences that build defensive skills and awareness while offering a cost-effective, risk-free approach to preparing drivers for real-world challenges.
