At APATS 2025, Cameron Ruckley, Training Manager at EasyJet, led a 90-minute seminar on instructor standardisation - a topic he describes as both broad and deeply impactful.

“Instructor standardisation means a lot of different things to a lot of different people,” Ruckley explained. “For us at EasyJet, it’s about supporting our instructors to deliver consistent, effective training that helps pilots grow throughout their careers.”

The seminar covered four key areas:

  • Training culture and strategy
  • Instructor and evaluator competencies
  • Competency-based training and assessment
  • Instructor concordance and grading accuracy

Ruckley emphasised the importance of creating a supportive culture for instructors, one that equips them with the tools to reach their full potential — a direction he believes the industry is increasingly embracing.
