Event Description
As governments gradually ease restrictions on international travel, the aviation sector is poised to rebound and thrive in a post-pandemic world.
Demand is projected to increase over the course of 2022; however the industry continues to face prolonged turbulence on its road to recovery due to pandemic resurgence and economic uncertainty.
These conditions underscore the need for airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, regulators, international organizations, and partners to work together to adapt to a new normal, while providing a safer and more secure and sustainable travel experience.
This will require unprecedented collaboration, greater data-sharing and more digitalization across the ecosystem, and this year’s Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS), organized by ICAO and hosted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of Türkiye, will unite key aviation stakeholders in Istanbul for the first time since the onset of the pandemic, to address these critical recovery priorities and capacity building, as well as how we adapt aviation to become more resilient over the longer term.
The event will also focus on the importance of enhancing partnerships for efficient and inclusive implementation support activities, and of leveraging from the pandemic for new training opportunities.
We expect the presence of senior representatives of regulatory bodies, Technical Cooperation Partners, and TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP) Members and other industry players at GISS 2022, and I look forward to you joining us for this important event.
Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar
ICAO Secretary General
