Raised in Central Florida, Cooper enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1987 and has recently retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Over the course of his military career, he implemented Air Force Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) policy and compatibility standards. With a passion for developing the next generation of Air Force leaders, Cooper spent most of his career ensuring special mission aircraft teams were combat ready to meet the nation’s needs, thus making him the perfect fit to lead DI’s XR Division. Additionally, Cooper has also worked with coalition partners to modernize and develop their militaries. This included managing Foreign Military Sales at the U.S. Embassy in Manama, Bahrain, assisting the Polish Air Force to establish jet fighter maintenance practices, and coordinating international military operations in the Horn of Africa.

As the new XR Division Head, Cooper intends to bring a unique perspective that will allow the team to continue expanding its development of XR training software solutions.

“We are very honored to have Lt. Col. James Cooper (retired) joining the DI Team. His extensive experience in modeling and simulation and deep knowledge of military maintenance training objectives and needs will be invaluable to our efforts to increase Readiness levels by transitioning innovative immersive training solutions and job performance aids that truly empower U.S. airmen, marines, sailors, and soldiers,” said Dr. Kay Stanney, DI’s CEO and Founder.

Cooper will bring his 33 years of military experience to his new role as the XR Division Head, where he is anticipated to aid in accelerating the development of virtual, augmented and mixed reality training solutions.
