PFA’s sponsored flight instructor programme inundated with applications

Norway’s Pilot Flight Academy (PFA) has received 50 applications for its sponsored flight instructor programme during the two first weeks since its launch.

Successful candidates will partake in a fully-sponsored EASA flight instructor course including ground school, 30 flight hours, an assessment flight and the licence issuing cost.

On completing the course, they will become full-time flight instructors at PFA with a bonding of 12 months from the day of an internal training course, which will start soon after the candidate has obtained their licence and flight instructor rating.

PFA says the salary for first year is NOK 25 000 per month, increasing to approximately NOK 29 000 from month 13. Salaries are also set to increase with additional rights for Instrument Flight Instructors and Multi Engine Instructors.

The company will also pay the annual fees for medical and necessary re-validations.

CEO of PFA, Frode Granlund, says the company hoped to see many applications, but this exceeds what they had imagined. “We are planning to hire new 30 flight instructors in 2018, and we will take in 15 of these applicants in February, and then plan for another batch in June.

“Applicants say that they are attracted to our fixed 5/4 working roster,” Granlund explains.

Elsewhere, PFA recently announced plans to open a second training base.
