JetBlue Airways has announced Steve Forte as the new Vice-President of JetBlue University. Based in Orlando, Florida, Forte will report to Rachel McCarthy, JetBlue’s SVP Talent & Learning.
Forte holds both undergraduate and MBA degrees from the University of Arizona. He began his career with nearly three decades at United Airlines, where he started as a line pilot and progressed to the roles of Senior Vice-President of Flight Operations and Director of Operations.
Following that, Forte served as General Manager of GE PBN Services (a division of GE Aviation) and as President, CEO and COO of its predecessor, Naverus Corporation, a pioneer in performance-based navigation technologies for air traffic management.
Forte most recently served as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Operations for Virgin America, responsible for day-to-day operations across the carrier’s growing network including airports, flight operations, technical operations, guest services, operations control center, regulatory affairs and safety.
JetBlue recently opened the second round of applications for its Gateway Select competency-based training programme, which was launched in March 2016.
