The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in Australia selected TRU Simulation + Training to provide a King Air 350/250 convertible Level 6 Flight Training Device.

The device will be certified by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and is expected to be delivered to the RFDS base at the Dubbo City Regional Airport, NSW, in the third quarter of 2019.

RFDS South Eastern Section (RFDS SE) General Manager Aviation and Strategic Development, David Charlton, says the introduction of the light training device “will bring a high-fidelity, in-country training solution that will keep pilots close to home and prepared for their next emergency mission at a moment’s notice.”

The device has a real King Air 350 fuselage nose section and features Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics and TRU’s REALfeel technology. The trainer will be used by the RFDS SE’s CASR Part 141/142 Aviation Training Team for both RFDS and industry training. TRU says it will be the first flight training device of this type in the region, making RFDS the only facility available for training pilots on the Proline Fusion avionics outside the US.

The flight training device is for initial and recurrent King Air 350/250/200 pilot training, multi-crew cooperation training, instructor training and ATPL - A flight test.
