The Airline Pilot Club (APC) hosted the second edition of "Let's Talk About Your Future," a half-day career-development and training innovation seminar at Barcelona Flight School. The event brought together aspiring pilots, cadet pilots, flight instructors, training-organisation leaders, and senior airline pilot training management to examine how competency-based training is reshaping the journey from student pilot to airline-ready professional.

The programme featured three presentations addressing critical junctures in a pilot's development. "The Good News / Bad News of CBTA & EBT" examined how Evidence-Based Training frameworks are changing what regulators and airlines expect from training outcomes. "From ATO to Airline: Building a Continuous Competency Thread" explored how structured competency data can follow a pilot from initial training through line operations. "From Student to Commander: Data-Driven Career Development" introduced how continuous professional development data enables targeted development at every career stage.

A panel discussion and career-preparation session followed, giving students direct access to industry professionals on recruitment expectations, competency standards, and what airlines are looking for in the next generation of pilots.

"The aviation industry talks a lot about the pilot shortage and safety standards. We wanted to do something practical about it — bring the people who train pilots and the people who hire them into the same room with the cadets who are working to join them. Competency-based training is the future, and it starts here: giving aspiring pilots a clear, evidence-based path to the flight deck," said Cedric Paillard, CEO, The Airline Pilot Club.

"Connecting our students directly with industry leaders and training-technology providers like APC gives them a more complete understanding of what it takes to succeed — not just in the exam room, but in a professional aviation career," said a representative from Barcelona Flight School.

APC will be exhibiting at this year's World Aviation Training Summit (WATS) at booth 209. Stop by to learn more and keep the discussion alive on CBT.
