Announced during EATS, two European training organizations have renewed their use of Exail’s A320 training solutions.

ICARE, based in Morlaix, France, has renewed the EASA FNPT II MCC qualification of its Exail A320 Flight Training Device, which has supported its airline-focused training since 2023.

Developed using the aircraft manufacturer’s OEM data package, the device supports Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC), Airline Pilot Standards MCC (APS MCC), Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) training pathways and recurrent airline pilot training. It was designed with FTD Level 2 capability in mind, and complements ICARE’s EASA Level D A320 Full Flight Simulator.

Philippe Goetz, CEO of ICARE, commented: “The renewed qualification confirms the reliability and maturity of the platform and reinforces our confidence in its role within our training ecosystem. Looking ahead, we also plan to expand our offering with A320 APS MCC courses, taking full advantage of the simulator’s advanced capabilities.”

Meanwhile, European Aviation School (EAS) in Barcelona has renewed its Exail Flight Management System Trainer (FMST) A320 licenses. EAS has used the FMST for several years in its MCC training program, giving cadets hands-on experience with flight planning and FMS programming before they enter the full-flight simulator.

According to Javier Gámez, Safety Manager at European Aviation School: “We use the FMST application as part of our MCC training programme. It allows students to become familiar with flight planning and FMS programming before entering the flight simulator. During the course, students practice creating and programming flight plans in the FMST environment, helping them understand the workflow and logic of the FMS.

“As a result, when they move to the simulator, they are already comfortable with the system and can program a flight quickly and efficiently. This reduces the time spent on basic FMS familiarisation in the simulator and allows students to focus on MCC objectives, operational procedures and crew coordination.

“We have found the FMST to be a valuable training tool that improves student preparation and makes simulator sessions more effective.”

Exail is exhibiting at the European Aviation Training Summit (EATS), 3–5 November at the Estoril Congress Centre in Cascais, Portugal, at Booth 514. Stop by to learn more.
