flydubai has introduced the Ab Initio Pilot Training Programme to prepare the next generation of commercial pilots as it prepares to add 12 new Boeing 737 aircraft in 2025. The programme targets high school graduates over the age of 17 and includes ground school, simulator sessions, flight instruction, and integration into flydubai’s operations.

Designed to address future pilot demand, the course runs for approximately 18 to 24 months. Successful cadets will qualify as second officers on flydubai’s 737 fleet through training delivered at the airline’s in-house Flight Training Centre.

This effort supports flydubai’s growth strategy and complements its existing team of over 1,300 pilots. The airline also plans to expand its training scope beyond flight crew roles to include positions such as maintenance engineers and air traffic controllers.

The first intake of cadets is expected to begin training by late 2025.
