In an exclusive interview filmed at APATS 2025, Christine Bohl, Commercial Director of Training at Boeing, shared her perspective on the evolving demands of aviation training and workforce development.
Bohl highlighted a critical shift in industry focus:
“About 700,000 maintenance personnel are needed over the next 20 years... The training industry is very important to maintain the growth that we will see in the airline industry.”
While pilot shortages have eased slightly due to slowed aircraft deliveries, Bohl emphasised that training investment must remain a priority. “Airlines are growing. They’re going to have to continue to invest in training capability to maintain that and keep pace.”
The conversation also spotlighted a growing concern: the maintainer pipeline. “We’re taking a hard look at what we need to be investing in on that maintainer side to ensure the industry is supplied with the right amount of personnel.”
