New Zealand-based flight simulator manufacturer iSim Ltd has commenced production of a new series of Full Motion Flight Training Devices (MFTDs). The first unit in the series was installed in Southeast Asia in early 2026.

The initial simulator is configured as a Hawker 800XP Flight Training Device and incorporates a 220 degrees LED visual system together with a six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) motion platform. The MFTD is designed for the general aviation sector, including business jets, training aircraft, and light turboprop platforms.

The MFTD combines flight dynamics, turbulence modelling, and visual environments to support training scenarios that replicate operational flight conditions. The platform is intended to bridge classroom instruction and practical flight training, offering an alternative for operators without access to a full-flight simulator.

Each simulator incorporates a 6-DOF motion system, an integrated access stairway, and a lightweight structural enclosure. These features reduce the installation footprint and power requirements, allowing the device to be installed without purpose-built simulator facilities or extensive infrastructure changes, according to the company. The compact configuration also allows operation at smaller flight schools and regional training centres where only a single simulator may be required.

The modular architecture supports rapid deployment and a pathway for future hardware and software upgrades. The MFTD series is intended for flight schools, regional aviation academies, and smaller training organisations seeking simulator capability within a compact solution.
