ITEC, the international forum for the military simulation, training and education community, announced that the 2019 conference agenda has been finalised.

With an overarching theme of “Interoperable by design:connecting people, technology and nations”, this year’s conference will bringtogether thought leaders from across research, industry and government to drivediscussion and showcase technological innovation for training and educationwithin joint, combined and distributed contexts.

The ITEC 2019 three-day conference agenda features threecore conference streams, with each track delivering an impressive line-up ofspeakers and diverse session content:

•         Human Factors and Performance in a Connected Age will consider core human, social, cultural and behavioural aspects of the training space, including among others, the utility and design of joint, interoperable military and civil exercises and human–machine collaboration and teaming.

•          Technologies and Architectures will represent the core technical theme for ITEC, focusing on technical developments advancing the use of collaborative, cooperative, or innovative processes.

•          Today’s Challenges, Tomorrow’s Needs, Emerging Solutions will focus on advances in large-scale, distributed collaboration and training, cyber and physical security training and education, and the application of mixed, augmented and virtual reality in high-risk or high-security training environments.

The conference will be opened on the morning of May 14, 2019by Dr. Elaine Raybourn, 2019 committee chair and principal member of theTechnical Staff, Applied Cognitive Science, Sandia National Laboratories.

“As the home of the Swedish military’s Viking trainingexercise, it is fitting that ITEC is taking place in Stockholm this year,”Raybourn said. “Viking is the largest training exercise of its kind worldwideand is focused on delivering a comprehensive approach to training, andmaximising intercultural cooperation with an emphasis on realism and currentoperational concepts.

“This strongly mirrors the theme of ITEC 2019, which willstress the importance of connections in training and the work being done toconnect modelling and simulation training solutions. There are so many stand-alonesolutions in this sector, but ITEC 2019 delegates want to connect theirsolutions, share data and reflect the ethos of interoperability and inclusivityas demonstrated by the Viking Exercise. It’s going to be a great conference andI’m excited to be a part of it.”
