Babcock has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ASELSAN to explore options for a new Surface Electronic Warfare Threat (SEWT) training system for the UK Royal Air Force.
The work sits within the RAF’s Next Generation Operational Training (NGOT) programme and would provide advanced simulation of modern Integrated Air Defence System (IADS) threats to enhance force readiness.
Under the agreement, the two companies will develop a joint approach to assessing how a scalable, high‑fidelity EW training environment could be delivered. The study will focus on accurately replicating contemporary electronic warfare threat systems and the operational tempo faced by UK aircrew.
Babcock Vice President for Future Business, Austin Lewis, said the collaboration enables both organisations to align their complementary strengths in operational insight and systems integration. ASELSAN’s Erhan Ülgen noted that the company’s established EW expertise positions the partnership to support the RAF’s future training needs.
The MOU marks an early step in evaluating potential industry solutions for the RAF’s evolving NGOT requirements.
